We are accustomed to see turtles, here in Palm Beach, year round. The best time to encounter the turtles off our coast is March thru October, Turtle Season! You are bound to experience the turtles especially during our peak season, May thru July, as they inhabit our reefs and beaches for mating and nesting.
We have 5 species of turtles found in our waters: Loggerhead, Green, Hawksbill, Leatherback and Kemp’s Ridley. Of the five (5) species, three (3) nest here on our beaches: Loggerhead, Green and Leatherback.
The southeastern United States hosts the world’s largest nesting aggregation of the loggerhead turtle.
Florida’s green turtle nesting aggregation is the second largest in the Western Hemisphere.
Florida is the only state in the continental U.S. where leatherback turtles regularly nest.
